Notification of public events

Freedom of association and assembly are guaranteed under the Constitution of Finland. Freedom of assembly means an individual’s freedom to attend public meetings and demonstrations as well as organise them. Freedom of assembly is an important part of having a political voice.

Nevertheless, the police have to be informed of where larger public events and meetings are to take place if the event could cause harm to bystanders or the environment or requires public order to be kept. The notification may be made electronically.
