Crimes

Offences should be reported to the police. The police start a criminal investigation if they suspect that a crime has been committed. The police department in the district where the crime has been committed is responsible for the investigation. Anyone can phone the police information hotline with crime tip-offs.

The police keep in contact with the district court prosecutor during the different stages of an investigation. The prosecutor decides whether to press charges.
