Insurance

Insurance safeguards the financial position of individuals and their families or companies in various loss situations.

People in Finland are insured with many statutory insurances, particularly in working life. Employers insure employees with statutory accident insurance, employment pension insurance and unemployment insurance. Individuals, companies and organisations can take out private insurance such as home and travel insurance, in addition to statutory insurance.

In Finland, private insurance companies deal with some of the statutory insurance security such as employment pension and statutory accident insurance.

The Insurance Supervisory Authority (ISA), which comes under the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, supervises the activities of insurance companies.
