Military service
Finland's national defence is based on general military service. All Finnish men are called-up for military service when they are 18. Women can apply for voluntary military service.
Finns participate in military crisis management and peacekeeping all over the world. Conscripts can take part in peacekeeping operations by applying for military service in the Finnish Rapid Deployment Unit or by applying for peacekeeping missions after completing military service.
