Animal welfare

Both farm animals and pets must be treated in such a way that they are protected from suffering, pain or distress and that their health and welfare are promoted. Animal welfare is monitored under laws on the protection of animals.

The protection of animals against sickness is in the interests of not just the animals themselves but also human beings. Some animal diseases can be caught by humans and may result in serious illness.
