Built environment
The national cultural environment refers to the built heritage, i.e. buildings, roads and bridges. It also includes cultural landscapes and antiquities.
The cultural heritage is managed and protected under the law. Some buildings or built areas may be protected under the Act on the Protection of Buildings, but normally the landscape and built heritage are protected under local authority planning restrictions.
