Integration

Ministry of Employment and the Economy has responsibility for the integration of immigrants. The Employment and Economic Development Offices and local authority immigration staff attend to the practical arrangements and the relevant services. Courses in Finnish or Swedish and access to employment are key factors that promote integration.

Integration actions need to start with an assessment of the immigrant’s needs. Furthermore, certain organisations can help with integration. The Family Federation of Finland has a Centre for Multicultural Expertise with the aim of promoting the integration and wellbeing of immigrant families.
