Channels of participation

Ordinary people can influence issues by following projects prepared in the local authority, the ministries and other branches of public administration. Everyone can have an influence on the planning of their living environment in their own local authority area. You can bring up your opinions in discussion forums. In addition to parties, non-governmental organisations also have an influence on society.

Social actors of various kinds, such as associations that are particularly well informed on the topic in question, can be asked for statements when bills are drafted. European Union legislation procedures include similar hearings. People living in EU Member States can get involved in policy formulation by participating in consultations on issues of interest to them through the Internet, for example.
