Punishments
The court imposes a statutory sanction on the person who has been sentenced to punishment such as a fine or imprisonment. An entry in the criminal record is normally only made of a crime which can lead to imprisonment.
In an individual case the President may remit, either wholly or in part, a sentence or other criminal penalty imposed by a court. Enquiries concerning petitions for pardons should be addressed to ministry of justice.
