Criminal cases
Informing the police about a crime may lead to court proceedings and punishment for the person found guilty of the offence. Anyone can report an offence to the police. If the police suspect that a crime has been committed, they will start a criminal investigation. The police department in the district where the crime has been committed handles the criminal investigation.
The police are responsible for notifying the prosecutor of any criminal case they are investigating. The prosecutor will decide whether the case should be taken to court. A trained arbitrator can also arbitrate in some criminal cases.
