Processing personal data and prohibitions on handing over data
In most cases, people have the right to know for what purpose the register holder uses personal data or hands it over. When collecting data, the register holder must give notice of the right to receive information, and how it takes place. People also have the right to check their data in the register. If necessary, they can demand that incorrect data is corrected.
People can prohibit the use of their personal data for direct or distance marketing by notifying the register office or the Population Register Centre and Finnish Transport Safety Agency Trafi.
