Passport, visas and identity cards

Passport and ID card are the only official documents for verifying your identity. Finnish citizens residing in Finland apply for passport or ID card with their local police in a written application. The application carries a fee and it must be handed in personally. Two photographs that fulfill the international passport photo guidelines must be attached with the application. Fingerprints will be included in new passports. On applying, the applicant must prove his/her identity with a valid passport or ID card.
