Tobacco and alcohol

Tobacco contains poisonous substances and causes addiction. Different organisations offer support for smokers, those thinking of quitting and those who have already stopped smoking. Provisions on the manufacture, import, advertising and sale of alcohol and tobacco are laid down in legislation. The Tobacco Act is enforced by local authorities at the local level and by the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health and State Provincial Offices at the national level. Alko has a sole right in Finland on the retail sale of alcoholic beverages containing over 4.7 % of alcohol by volume.
