Patients' rights
Everyone who lives in Finland is entitled to receive the health care and medical treatment they need. Patients also have the right to receive information on the state of their own health and the extent of their treatment. Every patient has the right to receive high-quality care and to be treated with respect.
Patient consent is required before treatment can be provided. Anyone who is not satisfied with the treatment they have been provided with can lodge a complaint with the health care institution involved, or make an appeal to the authority in charge of health care.
