Rehabilitation

It may be necessary to provide rehabilitation if employees are unable to carry out their tasks without considerable effort. The need for rehabilitation may arise as a consequence of an accident, for example, but also as a result of occupational disease.

Rehabilitation improves functional capacity, wellbeing and the ability to cope at work. Health centres and hospitals provide rehabilitation. Local authorities may also purchase rehabilitation services from private service providers.

Statutory rehabilitation includes occupational rehabilitation provided by KELA and services for people with disabilities. Rehabilitation is provided by the education and employment administration and insurance institutions in addition to KELA and social and health care.
