Support for families and child welfare

Maternity and child welfare clinics attend to women who are expecting or have given birth to a child, as well as children under school age. Child welfare clinics also provide help in problems related to upbringing. Municipal social services are responsible for child welfare. School health care can provide care and support in issues related to children and young people.

Churches and various organisations also offer support, advice and services: for example, in family crises, or in arranging short-term childcare.

Age limits have been defined in order to protect children and young people. A safe childhood and youth also involves guidance from parents in protecting oneself against the risks associated with the Internet.
