Divorce

A marriage is dissolved on the basis of a court decision. A divorce can be granted after a six-month period of consideration, or if the partners have lived separately for the previous two years. Divorce proceedings are instituted by a written application to the district court. The application can be made by one of the partners alone or both together. The court does not examine the reasons that led to the divorce when processing the case.

Many organisations provide support and expert assistance in issues related to the guardianship of children and visitation rights.
