Other types of social security

The local authority will grant income support if an applicant's income does not cover essential expenditure for everyday life. An application for income support must be made every month. The size of the benefit is determined by adding together the costs covered by income support and deducting the available income and assets.

The children of single parents may receive maintenance help from the parent living outside the home. If the parent living outside the home is unable to pay maintenance, the child may receive municipal maintenance allowance.

The forms of support also include different benefits such as maternity and paternity allowances, family allowances and allowances for caring for small children.
