Benefits

The amounts of benefits paid by society vary every year. Up-to-date information on the amounts of benefits is available from the authorities. Benefits include, for example, maternity allowances, training allowances, family allowances, the national pension and home care allowances.

In general, Kela handles all benefits. Income support is dealt with by the local authorities and is applied for at the local social welfare office. Income support may be available if your  income is not enough for essential everyday expenditure, such as food and accommodation costs. Local authorities may have their own additional benefits, such as additional support for home care.  Further information on these is available from your local authority.
