Mass communications in Finland consist of electronic and printed media. Yle is Finland’s national public-service broadcasting company responsible for mass communications on radio and TV. It is a public limited company owned by the state.

There are national, provincial and local newspapers, as well as political newspapers and weeklies in Finland. Magazines are counted in thousands. These include both commercial magazines and ones related to various hobbies and associations. Online magazines are published by media companies, associations and other groupings.

The self-regulatory organ of the media sector, the Council for Mass Media in Finland, determines whether the media has adhered to good journalistic practices. Anyone who feels that the Guidelines for Journalists have been violated can make a complaint to the Council.
