Culture in society

Finnish cultural policy has traditionally been characterised by an emphasis on national cultural identity. Today, cultural diversity is emphasised alongside it. The network of art and cultural institutions is comprehensive.  A wide range of cultural events is organised throughout the country. The authorities' aim is to ensure that everyone has the chance to have access to a wide range of high-quality culture. Equally important is the involvement of ordinary people in everyday cultural events and pursuits.
