Application for council housing - identification required (City of Helsinki)

An electronic transactions service through which citizens can apply for a rental apartment from the City of Helsinki. No fee is charged for applying for and offering apartments, nor are any rent guarantees or other guarantee fees charged from the person receiving the apartment. The use of the service requires identification using online banking identification.

When the application is received, the system classifies the need for apartment on the basis of urgency. The applicant can update the application information through the transactions folder either by submitting a new application or by changing the previous submitted application. The new or updated application replaces the previous submitted application whose information will not remain available to the clerk. The customer’s credit information is checked before offering an apartment. The apartment is offered by phone and the applicant is requested to send the necessary attachments to the Service Outlet. Applicants wishing to exchange a rental apartment must produce a landlord’s statement immediately after submitting the application in order to qualify the application for handling. Having submitted the requested attachments, the applicant receives a written apartment offer and can agree to view the apartment with the real estate company.

The application is in force for 6 months from the date on which it was submitted or changes were made to it.
