The method of confirming your email address has changed in Suomi.fi Messages

Published 30/4/2024

To use Suomi.fi Messages, you need to confirm your email address. This is the email address where you receive notifications of new messages you have received in Suomi.fi Messages.

Moving forward, users must confirm the email address they have entered with a six-digit verification code. The code is sent to you by email when you are activating the service for the first time or when you change the email address you have entered in the service.

If Suomi.fi Messages are activated via the Tax Administration's MyTax service, the email address is for the time being still confirmed by clicking a link in the confirmation message.

Why are we making this change?

Previously, you have been able to confirm your email address via a link included in an email message. However, fraud messages sent in authorities’ name have recently become increasingly widespread.

The recent change aims to prevent these types of fraud and scams. Moving forward, you will never receive links in messages from Suomi.fi with the exception of activating Suomi.fi Messages in the MyTax service.

However, please note that if an email you receive contains the service name "Suomi.fi", some email programs may automatically turn it into a link.
